How to get Birth/death Certificate?
Birth or Death is guided by its own destiny and is beyond
our control but the Birth/Death Certificate should be at hand.According
to the existing law,each Birth and death should be registered
within 21 days. Only after registration,the certificate can
be obtain from the office.
These certificates are essential not only for government/administrative
functionaries,but also to meet the various needs of modern
civic life. Hence, as a responsible citizen,you should be
aware of Birth/Death Registration,and your awareness is essential
to us.
Birth Registration-Where and How?
In case ob birth in any Govt.Hospital within the Kolkata
Municipal Corporation Area,the hospital authority registers
each and every birth in Municipal Register.In such cases ,Birth
Certificates can be very easily obtained at any time in future.
Take a quick look at where and how to get this cerificate:
Within a year of birth , the child's father
or mother can get a copy of th eBirth Certificate from the
Health Care Unit of the concerned Municipal Ward by producing
the original Discharge Certificate. You can also register
the child's name at this time.
After one year of birth of the child ,the
birth document of the child has to be verified from the Birth
Register of the Record Deapartment at the Haed Office of the
Corporation,by submitting a stipulated fee soon after verification.
A copy of the certificatecan be obtained from the Computer
Center by paying a stipulated amount of money. But for this,the
concerned hospital has to send the Municipal Cases Register
with detailed information of the child's birth in time.
Birth cases in Private Hospitals,Nursing
Homes or at residence of KMC areas
Within 21 days of a birth,the Hospital
/Nursing Home authority must send the birth report to the
concerned Borough Health Office and for late registration,within
1 year of birth. The registration is done only after submission
of report,following which the Birth Certificate are issued.
The child's name can be registered during this time also.
If the child's birth takes place at residence,then
the registration must be done within 21days at Health Care
Unit of Local municipal Ward,on which the Birth Certificate
will be given. Subject to the permission of the Registrar,registration
and procurement of the Birth Certificate may be done within
1 year.
Registration after one year of child's
birth can only be done by the dictum of a First Class Magistrate.
The Birth Registration and Certificate
thereof can be obtained from the concerned Borough Health
Office of the Corporation by submitting the proof of birth
and dictum of First class Magistrate for registration and
on payment of a stipulated fee after 1-20 years of the child's
birth.
No-entry Certificate will be issued by
the main Health Department of the Corporation for non-registration
of birth after 20 years on payment of a stipulated amount.
For special occasions, Birth Certificate can be obtained from
the Department of the Chief Municipal Health Officer by submitting
the original directive of a First Class Magistrate and other
documents of proof.
Death Registration-Where and How?
The close relatives of expired person
can get two copies of the Certificate with registration from
the burning ghat or burial ground. Besides this, a computerised
certificate can be obtained from the Health Department against
stipulated fee.
In case of death in any hospital or residence
within minicipal area and subsequent cremation at any non-municipal
area -the registration can be done by submitting the required
application form along with the Death Certificate obtained
from a registered medical practitioner ,at the Health Department
of Corporation within one year. At the same time a copy of
the certificate can be obtained from the Computer section
by paying a stipulated fee
For late registration after one year ,a
copy of the certificate can be obtained from the Computer
Section of the Health Department by submitting the requisite
application form along with the directive of a First class
Magistrate and on paying a stipulated fee.
